Keeping your property safe is what we do best. And we want to make sure you’re getting the most out of your Deep Sentinel plan. You’ve invested in top-notch protection — now let’s make sure your system is working its hardest for you.

Fine-tuning your system can lead to better protection and value.Title

Your Deep Sentinel system is designed to provide exceptional security, but optimizing your cameras doesn’t just make them even more effective — it also helps you get the most value from your plan.

Under our tiered billing system, every Deep Sentinel camera provides a baseline of 2,000 escalated events per month, offering flexibility tailored to your needs.

As a refresher, an escalation occurs when the camera detects human motion and instantly streams the live video to our 24/7 monitoring center. If the threat is deemed serious, our live guards will take immediate action, such as sounding an alarm or notifying you and authorities. These escalated events are what set us apart from other security systems — they ensure that every potential threat is addressed in real time.

With a few quick tweaks, you can ensure your cameras focus on what matters most, minimizing unnecessary activity while maintaining the high level of protection you expect.

1. Adjust your protection zones to only monitor high-priority areas.Title

Your cameras are always on guard during your hours of protection. When objects appear on screen, this can potentially trigger an escalated event — whether it’s warranted or not. In other words, our AI-powered cameras may not be able to tell the difference between a threat and a harmless movement if they aren’t correctly positioned.

To avoid unnecessary alerts and optimize performance:

  • Exclude public areas: Streets, sidewalks, or other places with high foot traffic can trigger frequent events. Adjust your protection zones to focus only on your property to minimize false alarms.
  • Prioritize key zones: Focus on areas that matter most, such as entryways, driveways, or outdoor spaces where valuables are stored.
  • Check zones periodically: It’s a good idea to review your Protection Zones from time to time to ensure optimal coverage. For wireless cameras, don’t forget to check after replacing a camera battery, as the angle may have shifted.

How to adjust protection zonesTitle

To edit your protection zones:

  1. Open the Deep Sentinel App.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Device Manager.
  3. Then select a device, and click edit protection zone

There you can tweak your camera coverage. This small step can have a big impact on reducing unnecessary activity while ensuring security where you need it most. For more detailed guidance, check out our Protection Zone Best PracticesA.

2. Keep cameras clean and clearTitle

Your cameras work best when they have a clear view. Things like dust, spider webs, or smudges can interfere with camera sensors, causing unnecessary escalations.

  • Clean your camera lenses regularly with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Check for debris or obstructions every couple of weeks.

→ Pro Tip: Add a calendar reminder to make this part of your routine. A good rule of thumb is to clean your lenses once every 2-3 months. Clean lenses mean your cameras can focus on what really matters.

3. Remove obstructions from camera viewsTitle

Objects like tree branches, flags, or decorations that move in the wind can trigger false alerts. A quick check to ensure your camera’s line of sight is clear will save you both time and escalations.

  • Trim bushes or branches that might drift into the frame.
  • Remove items that frequently cause motion near your cameras.
  • Keep the frame clear of any seasonal decorations that move (e.g.  flags, wind chimes, holiday decor).

This simple effort can reduce false positives and help stay within your plan limits.

4. Adjust business hours and privacy schedulesTitle

Our customizable schedules let you control when escalations are active, saving event counts for when you need them most.

  • Set Business Hours to disable escalations during times you don’t need monitoring, such as during regular opening hours.
  • Use Privacy Schedules for personal downtime, like family evenings in the backyard or business events.

By tailoring your settings, you’ll prevent unnecessary escalations and save event counts for the most important moments.

5. Keep an eye on your usageTitle

It’s easy to track escalated events and stay informed about your usage on the Deep Sentinel App.

To check your activity:

  1. Open the Deep Sentinel App.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Account > Event Usage.

Staying on top of your usage enables you to make timely adjustments and avoid unnecessarily exceeding the 2000-event limit per camera.
